In 1906, Colbert Coldwell, a young real estate agent, observed families trying to put their lives back together after the San Francisco earthquake. Strongly disapproving of agents who acquired properties from these vulnerable sellers and reselling them at huge profits plus seeing the need for real estate people who were not only knowledgeable about real estate but also cared about the people they served, Coldbert Coldwell founded his company. His philosophy then remains with the company today: the customer's best interest above all. In 1914, Benjamin Arther Banker joined Mr. Coldwell as a full partner. Together, Coldwell and Banker forged a tradition of integrity and customer satisfaction that has become the company's hallmark. Coldwell Banker Apex, an independently owned and operated company, is proud of this heritage and strives to continue offering to each of our valued customers this same tradition.
In celebration of our 100th anniversary, Coldwell Banker asked their various franchise offices to work together to help build 100 houses for Habitat for Humanity in 2006. Coldwell Banker Apex is proud to say we made that commitment and in 2005 all the agents within our company worked together to raise the money needed to build a house in 2006. As Realtors, we are very proud to assist a deserving family in our area in getting a home. All of our sales associates worked hard and donated countless dollars and time to raise the money needed for this effort to give back to the community which has given so much to them.
Each year Coldwell Banker Apex joins forces with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to help collect toys for Toys for Tots. Kids look forward to the promise of new toys for the holidays. So all of our offices join together in the spirit of giving during the holiday season to serve as drop off points for toy donations. In addition, the agents put out collection boxes at locations all over our community and later collect them to get the toys back for the Marines. This is just one project our company does in an effort to give back to our community.
All nine of our offices have various activities going on during the holidays in an effort to collect more and more toys for this campaign. Each office not only serves as drop off Collection Centers but also plans many other projects annually in an effort to collect toys. And every year, it continues to get better and better. It gives us great pride in knowing that this effort has helped make the lives of so many kids happier during the holiday season. Many children in our communities would be disappointed if it were not for this program so we are very proud to help be sponsors. And we want to thank many of you who have so generously given to this effort.
